It is recommended that students take the assessment before the end of June in order to allow time for remedial work before the Fall term (if required).<\/li>\n<li>Once you&#8217;ve received a School of Music acceptance letter you will be contacted with instructions on how to complete the Theory Assessment.<\/li>\n<li><em><u>Note: The results of the assessment <strong>do not<\/strong> affect acceptance to the School of Music<\/u><\/em><u>.<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Music Theory Rudiments<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applicants interested in improving their knowledge of music theory rudiments before commencing studies, or before writing the assessment test, can take the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/e-gre\/programs\/online-theory\/\">online rudiments course<\/a> offered through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/e-gre\/\">Eckhardt-Grammatte Conservatory of Music<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Alternatively, students will be required to take 64:110 \u2013 Materials of Music in their first semester of study. P<em>lease note that this course does not count towards the Bachelor of Music degree.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Exemptions<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applicants who have successfully completed the Royal Conservatory of Music Level 8 Theory exam (previously known as Grade 2 Rudiments), the Conservatory Canada Theory 3 Exam, or other equivalent exam, can send their results to &#x6d;&#x75;&#x73;&#x69;&#x63;&#x40;&#98;&#114;&#97;&#110;donu&#x2e;&#x63;&#x61; in order to be exempt from taking the assessment test.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Sample Test<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/music\/files\/Sample-Music-Theory-Assessment-Practice-Test.pdf\">Sample Assessment Test<\/a> is designed to help students prepare to write theory assessment.
