BRANDON, MB – Brandon University is proud to report that enrollment is up 3.8% for the 2009-10 academic year.

BU saw an increase of nearly one percent in full time students, and 10.5 per cent in part time students. These numbers were bolstered by late enrollments that are substantially greater than in past years.

“We are very pleased with the increased enrolment. This year we will be increasing our efforts to recruit and retain students at BU and this baseline growth is a great starting place for those activities,” says Dr. Deborah Poff, President and Vice-Chancellor of Brandon University.

The numbers break down as follows:

  • Full time students                              2,167
  • Part time students                             1,054
  • Total enrollment                                 3,221

The most notable gains in enrollment were from the Nursing and Music programs with increases of 15.4 and 7.9 per cent respectively.

The Nursing program at Brandon University has been aided by the Provincial Government’s support of the transition from Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) to Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPN).
