BRANDON, MB – MacLeans’s magazine has released their annual university rankings, Thursday, November 5, and Brandon University placed 13 out of 22 institutions in the in the primarily undergraduate category.
Brandon University’s relatively strong showing was supported by having the best student to faculty ratio in the nation and the smallest average class sizes. This highlights BU’s dedication to personable and interactive learning.
“Overall we think the rankings reflect our commitment to students and to our focus on personalized quality education at BU,” says Dr. Deborah Poff, new President and Vice-Chancellor at Brandon University.
The dedication to a “student first” campus was also reflected in the top-five ranking for the percentage of resource allocation devoted to student services and a first place ranking for library holdings per student.
“Good rankings are important to Brandon University but it is also important to stay true to our mission and values,” says Dr. Poff. “A commitment to open access at our university for all students is a feature of which BU is extremely proud, but does not generate high rankings.”
The MacLean’s rankings will be added to the numerous resources and community feedback that Brandon University is using as it continues with its planning exercises for the future.
