Talented Faculty members showcased in pro series concert

BRANDON, MB – This Friday evening, many of the talented musicians who make up the School of Music’s faculty will have the opportunity to shine in the spotlight during the annual pro series Faculty Concert.

The program includes faculty members Heather and Glen Carruthers, violinist Kerry DuWors, cellist Leanne Zacharias, guitarist Paul Madyrga, baritone David Playfair, pianists Lawrence Jones and Kyung Kim, and flutist Nancy Hennen.

The pro series Faculty Concert will be held Friday, January 15, at 8:00 p.m., in the Lorne Watson Recital Hall of the Queen Elizabeth II Music Building, at Brandon University.

The concert will feature Professor Emeritus, pianist Lawrence Jones and his daughter, professional cellist Laura Jones in a recital that will include Cassado’s “Sonata in Old Spanish Style”, Morlock’s “Halcyon”, Beethoven’s “Sonata No. 5 in D Major, Op. 102, No. 2″and Dohnanyi’s “Sonata in B-flat, Op. 8”.

Tickets to this and all other pro series concert are $12 for adults, $8 for seniors, alumni and students, and $6 for Conservatory students. Subscriptions for the pro series’ entire season can also be purchased, ranging from $60 for adults, to $35 for seniors, alumni and students, to $25 for Conservatory students. Both tickets and subscriptions can be bought at the door or in advance at the School of Music. Seating is limited. Programmes are subject to change.
