BRANDON, MB – The 2009-2010 pro series welcomes the father-daughter duo of pianist Dr. Lawrence Jones and cellist Laura Jones to the Lorne Watson Recital Hall stage Sunday, January 24, at 3:00 p.m.
The pair has graced the Lorne Watson Recital Hall stage in past recitals, but had done so on their own steam. As well, they have recorded a disc entitled “Sérénade française”. For this occasion, the Joneses will perform Cassado’s “Sonata in Old Spanish Style, Morlock’s “Halcyon”, Beethoven’s “Sonata No. 5 in D Major,Op. 102 No. 2”, and Dohnanyi’s “Sonata in B-flat, Op. 8”.
Tickets to this and all other pro series concert are $12 for adults, $8 for seniors, alumni and students, and $6 for Conservatory students. Subscriptions for the pro series’ entire season can also be purchased, ranging from $60 for adults, to $35 for seniors, alumni and students, to $25 for Conservatory students. Both tickets and subscriptions can be bought at the door or in advance at the School of Music. Seating is limited. Programmes are subject to change. (*Tickets for the James Ehnes/Michael Kim recital are $20.)

Bio – Dr. Lawrence Jones
Dr. Jones taught from 1961 at the School of Music, is a respected adjudicator and examiner, has had his performances broadcast on the CBC, and continues to maintain close ties to the university. He also served as Dean of the School of Music from 1987 to 1992.
Bio – Laura Jones
Laura, daughter of Dr. Jones, has forged a busy music career, performing with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra and the Nota Bene Period Orchestra. Previously, she lent her talents to Opera Atelier and Aradia Ensemble. As well, she performs as a chamber musician on period instruments with the Windermere String Quartet, Talisker Players Chamber Music, and L’Intemporel Baroque Ensemble.
