BRANDON, MB – Chinese Spring festival is the most significant festival in China, where people are usually granted a whole week for this holiday. Most spend this particular time with their families and friends to celebrate and welcome the Chinese New Year, which takes place on February 13, 2010, according to the Chinese Lunar calendar.

On Saturday, February 27, the Brandon University Chinese Students and Scholars’ Association (BUCSSA) will host a Chinese New Year celebration at the Knox United Church (451-18 th Street, Brandon). The celebration will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will feature a Chinese food fair, including authentic Chinese menu items for only 50 cents per item, games, draws and performances.

Tickets are free for BUCSSA members and children under 10 years old. For non-members, tickets are $10.00 when purchased in advance and $12.00 at the door. Tickets include two food items.

Tickets will be available February 8-26 in the Mingling Area (located on the lower level of the Knowles-Douglas Building), and from February 8-25 at the Living Delight store, located at 601 9th Street in Brandon.

The Brandon University Chinese Students and Scholar’s Association (BUCSSA), the only registered Chinese’s Organization in Brandon, hosts an annual Chinese New Year Celebration to provide members with a wonderful New Year celebration, and in an effort to enhance the cultural exchange between Chinese students and Canadian students in Brandon. All are welcome.
