BRANDON, MB – In a unique pro series presentation, on February 9, music and words will fill the Lorne Watson Recital Hall.

Colin Fox, actor of stage and screen, has written a work entitled “The Schumann Letters” in which he reveals the contents of some of the 20,000 letters Robert and Clara Schumann exchanged while they courted. Joining him on stage will be Manitoba native Susan Gilmour Bailey and pianist, Dr. Michael Kim, the School of Music’s Dean.

An alumnus of the National Theatre School of Canada, Colin Fox has performed at Stratford Festival and has appeared in television programs as diverse as “Goosebumps” and “PSI Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal”, in which he portrayed Professor Anton Hendricks.

Soprano Susan Gilmour Bailey will be interpreting some of the songs that date from this period in the married couple’s life. Currently based in London, she has a busy singing career, and returns to Westman, where she grew up, for this recital.

The pro series performance of “The Schumann Letters” will take place at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, in the Lorne Watson Recital Hall, in the Queen Elizabeth II Music Building, at Brandon University.

Tickets to all pro series concerts are $12 for adults, $8 for seniors, alumni and students, and $6 for Conservatory students. Tickets can be bought at the door or in advance at the School of Music. Seating is limited and programmes are subject to change.

The pro series and the School of Music gratefully acknowledge the generous support of The Canada Council for the Arts, the Manitoba Arts Council and of the Province of Manitoba, through a Consolidated Arts Programming Grant from Culture, Heritage and Tourism.
