Cheung named new Bobcats men’s basketball head coach

BRANDON, MB – Brandon University and Bobcat Athletics are pleased to announce Gill Cheung as the new head coach for the men’s basketball team.

  “Gil Cheung will be a tremendous ambassador for Brandon University in our community and a long term solution to the coaching challenges for men’s basketball. I am thrilled that Gil Cheung will be our new coach and leader,” says Athletic Director Kirk De Fazio

  Cheung is coming to BU by way of Douglas College in New Westminster, B.C. where he was the head coach of the men’s basketball team while teaching full-time at Southridge School in Surrey, B.C.

  “I am ecstatic to have the opportunity to return to Brandon University and to lead the Bobcats men’s basketball program,” says Cheung. “The University and community have played such a vital part of my life and I am grateful to be able to return home. I look forward to the upcoming season and laying roots in this great community.”

  Cheung will begin his duties part-time for May and June and will be on campus full-time beginning July 1.
