Gift from the Netherlands in bloom

May 14, 2010

Brandon, MB – As a token of support for a recent visit by BU students, the Netherlands Embassy donated and sent 100 bulbs to Brandon University last fall. They have now been planted at the front of Clark, where they can be a reminder for students and staff alike will be able to enjoy the tulips year after year and will be reminded of their fantastic learning experience in Europe.

A group of students and instructors from BU recently returned from Europe, where they participated in the various commemoration and liberation ceremonies, culminating in the Netherlands on May 4 and 5.

They were joined more than a thousand other Canadian students along with Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

The spring of 2010 marked the 65 year anniversary of Canadians liberating the Netherlands from German occupation.
