BRANDON, MB – Brandon University is proud to announce that James Ehnes has been appointed a Member of the Order of Canada by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada.
  For his accomplishments as a concert violinist, who began violin studies at the age of four and who has received acclaim both in Canada and abroad.

BRANDON, MB – Brandon University is proud to announce that Dr. Alex Michalos has been appointed a Member of the Order of Canada by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada.
  He received the honour for his contributions to the social sciences, notably in research that has helped to measure the quality-of-life in Canada and abroad.

BRANDON , MB – Eight Brandon University students have received NSERC (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada) Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA). These awards are valued at $4,500 per student, with further supplements from the university and faculty members’ personal research grants.

BRANDON, MB – As part of their on-going partnership, the Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre (MFNERC) and Brandon University signed a Memorandum of Understanding today. The document is designed to foster the development of new First Nations language teaching skills and collaborate to support the retention and preservation of First Nations languages.

BRANDON, MB – The Association for Canadian and Quebec Literatures (ACQL) awarded the 2009 Gabrielle Roy Prize (English Section) to Di Brandt of Brandon University and the late Barbara Godard of York University.
  Each year, the Gabrielle Roy Prize (English Section) honours the best work of Canadian literary criticism published in English.
