BRANDON, MB – Brandon University is happy to announce that Dr. Cam Symons will be serving as the Acting Dean of Education for the upcoming academic year.

“I am very pleased that Dr. Symons has agreed to serve as the Acting Dean of Education. Cam brings to the position a range of educational experiences that will benefit his students, his Faculty and the university more generally,” says Dr. Scott Grills, Vice-President (Academic and Research).

Dr. Symons has been with BU since 2000 as a professor, Student Advisor, and Director of Field Experience in the Faculty of Education. This followed eighteen years of work in the Manitoba public school system. In 2006 he was awarded the Brandon University Senate Award for Excellence in Teaching. Symons’ “Exceptional Teachers’ Casebook” has sold over a thousand copies in Manitoba since its release in 2008.

“This Faculty has good people doing great work for education in Manitoba, and while I’ll miss my time in the classroom, I’m excited about serving in this new role and helping to support all of the work our people do,” says Dr. Symons.

He will be taking over for Mr. Jerry Storie, who was the Dean of Education for the past five years. Storie retired earlier this summer.
