BRANDON, MB — Dr. Di Brandt and Dale Lakevold of the Creative Writing Program on campus will host four events — two on March 7 and the other two on March 10. Ottawa poet Blaine Marchand will be on hand for the first set of readings, collectively entitled “Poems of Love and War”. The following two events will put playwrights Mansel Robinson and Pam Bustin in the spotlight.
Marchand’s first presentation is entitled “The Craving of Knives: A Love Story” and it will be held from 12:40 to 1:30 p.m., on March 7, in Room 212, Clark Hall. That evening at 7:30, he will read from “Aperture: Poems and Prose of Afghanistan”, in Room 104, Clark Hall.
Under the heading of “Radical Saskatchewan”, Robinson and Bustin will read from their award-winning plays and discuss the drama of playwriting. This will take place at noon on March 10, Elephant Room, Knowles-Douglas Building. That evening, the two playwrights will perform with local multimedia artists 600 Bones (Adrian Kuryliw, Robin McColl and Pat Desjarlais), at 8 p.m., in the Music Studio, located at 940 Rosser Ave.
The on-campus events are open to the public and admission is free. The Music Studio event is also open to the public, but admission is $5.
