BRANDON, MB – The coaching staff of the Brandon Bobcats women’s volleyball team has gone west to find their latest recruit. The ‘Cats have signed Brianna Walsh to a letter of intent to play in Brandon next year.

“I decided to come to Brandon because it offers everything I was looking for in a university: the right degree, small class sizes, and a competitive team,” says Walsh. “I am very excited to be part of life in Brandon.”

Walsh began her volleyball career playing for the Canuck Stuff Volleyball club in Calgary while she was in grade seven. Since then she has gone on to excel at the high-school level playing for the Bishop Grandin Ghosts as well as Alberta’s provincial team last summer.

Walsh is a gifted student as well, surpassing a 90 per cent average through-out her high school career. She also earned individual awards in mathématiques (math taught in French), and the highest mark attainable in both her Biology and French exams.

“Brianna is a strong athlete and superior student,” says Carter. “She has demonstrated good overall skills while playing a variety of positions and has a good competitive streak. It will be great to watch her build on her already successful skills both on and off the court.”

Walsh plans to earn a degree in environmental sciences while attending BU.
