Recruit from Winnipeg Commits to Brandon

BRANDON, MB – After years of battling against Brandon high-schools, Shanlee McLennan will soon be playing for Brandon University.

The former River East Kodiaks team captain has committed to the Bobcats. She will join the program in the fall of 2011-2012.

“Brandon University has a good reputation for academics and the Bobcats have a strong volleyball program. I’ve had the chance to get to know some of the team and it is very clear they have a great group of girls. I’m excited to be a part of it,” says McLennan.

Her success so far speaks for itself. McLennan’s high school and club experience made her one of the top recruits from Manitoba this year. She was a member of the AAAA Provincial Championship Kodiaks last season, notching an impressive 24 kills in the semi-final, earning a tournament all-star award in the process.

McLennan is also a graduate of the Cobras Volleyball Club, where she captained the U17 team to a bronze medal at the Canadian Open in Abbotsford, BC.

Her dedication, hard work, and leadership have helped her become a coveted recruit.

“Shanlee is one of the top players in Manitoba,” says Carter. “She is a very disciplined athlete who wants to succeed both on and off the court. She’s a core value type of player that all coaches want.”
