BRANDON, MB – Just as she ends one chapter of her life, graduating Bobcat Teagan Hunter is about to begin another. Hunter has agreed to play professional volleyball in Copenhagen, Denmark next season.
The Brandon product just concluded her fifth and final season as a member of the Bobcat women’s volleyball team where she was named to the CIS all-Canadian second team and Canada West all-star first team.
“I’m far from done with volleyball and I have a lot left I would like to accomplish,” says Hunter. “I think I can still develop as a player and a person, and this is a great opportunity to do that. I’m also a little nervous, but mostly excited.”
Hunter is the third Bobcat to sign a pro contract from the women’s volleyball team after Erin Visch-Krahn played in Sweden and Nicole Ban played in Norway this past year. Hunter talked to Visch-Krahn about life as a pro in Europe, which helped make her decision.
“The feel that I am getting is that the level of competition is comparable to CIS,” says Hunter. “They are looking for players that can come in and compete and that’s exactly what I want to do.”
Hunter is Brandon University’s all-time leader in career kills, points and digs. She will join her club in August to begin competition in September.
