BRANDON, MB – Four years after landing his first Australian player, Bobcats men’s volleyball coach Russ Paddock has gone back to the South Pacific for his latest recruit. Christchurch, New Zealand native Ben Glue has committed to the Brandon Bobcats for the 2011 -2012 season.

“Ben is a strong attacker, and is going to bring experience and leadership to our group,” says Paddock. “He’s been captain of previous club teams and has experience with New Zealand’s national team program, which will assist us in leadership following the graduation of some key players last year.”

Glue is a product of the Shirley Volleyball Club, and has played various level of beach volleyball.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to play for Brandon University,” says Glue. “The success the team has had the last few years speaks for itself. I’m really looking forward to joining the team and contributing in whatever way I can.”

The 6’2” outside hitter will follow in the footsteps of current Bobcats Luke Reynolds, Brendan White, and Craig Lowe, and alums Paul Sanderson, Cam Blewett, and Marius Oros as international recruits to join Brandon’s men’s volleyball team. Oros was the first international recruit to join the Bobcats in the 2006-2007 season.

Glue’s first action as a Bobcat will come on October 1 as the ‘Cats open their exhibition schedule by hosting the annual Super 8 Tournament in the BU Gymnasium.
