BRANDON, MB – Bobcat basketball fans will have a unique opportunity to see their favorite current Bobcats compete against familiar faces this Friday (September 30) in the BU Gymnasium. The first annual Bobcat Alumni Skills Competition will take place starting at 7 pm.

The event will feature various skills competitions between current members of the Bobcats roster and Bobcat greats like John Carson, Whitney Dabney and Dave Dominique, as well as local youth basketball players.

“This event promises to be an exciting weekend for the team as there’s nothing like putting that jersey on for the first time,” says men’s basketball head coach Gil Cheung. “It will be great to honour our alumni and help link the past with present day Bobcats. I look forward to seeing some familiar faces and have our players meet guys who paved the way for them.”

Following the skills competition will be an abbreviated alumni game featuring this year’s Bobcats men’s basketball team against members of past Bobcat teams. Tip-off will be at 7:45.

Numerous Bobcats legends will be in attendance that night to celebrate the induction of alums Dabney and Keith Vassell into the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame at a special ceremony in Winnipeg the following day.
