BRANDON, MB – The Brandon University Bobcats women’s volleyball team has added another recruit for next year. Russell, Manitoba product Jasmine Lafournaise has committed to play for the Bobcats starting in the fall of 2012.

The Major Pratt High School stand-out currently plays a multitude of sports, but has jumped at the opportunity to play volleyball at the CIS level.

“Jasmine excels at all sports, and after seeing that she is an all-around athlete we are really excited to see how good she is going to get when she focuses strictly on volleyball,” says Bobcats Head Coach Lee Carter.

Lafournaise is a multi-sport athlete for the Major Pratt Trojans. Aside from playing middle on the senior girls varsity volleyball team she is a forward on the senior girls varsity basketball team. She also plays badminton, baseball and beach volleyball. Lafournaise is also a product of the Club West volleyball program based out of Virden, Manitoba.

“I’m looking forward to playing on a new team and getting a brand new experience,” says Lafournaise. “I really enjoy playing basketball and all sports, but when I was given the opportunity to play just volleyball, and so close to home, it was just a really great opportunity for me.”

Lafournaise is the fourth Manitoban to join the Bobcats in this year’s recruiting class as Brandon products Jodie Baker, Mary Thomson and Gillian Leech all signed letters of intent to play for Brandon University next year.
