BRANDON, MB – Vapourize gummy bears. Make sand dance. Turn music into flame. Just a few of the amazing, interactive demonstrations awaiting area residents this Saturday at Brandon University (BU) during Winterlude.

Winterlude logoThe annual day-long open house features events, music, food and entertainment – all free.

“Everyone is invited,” says BU President and Vice-Chancellor Deborah Poff. “Winterlude is a great opportunity to explore the campus and experience the compelling advantages which make BU the ‘university of choice’ for students from western Manitoba and beyond.”

Winterlude kicks off at 10:30 am with a free hot breakfast in the University Main Dining Hall. Demonstrations involving professors and students from Science, Arts, Health Studies, Music and Visual Arts begin at 12:30 pm throughout the campus. Other highlights include Students vs. Staff/Faculty hockey game, Bobcats Basketball games, public skating, hot chocolate and a Bannock Bakeoff open to all.

“We have been a part of this community for more than 100 years,” says President Poff, “and during Winterlude, we throw open the doors  to say ‘thanks’ with food and entertainment.”
