New name for cafeteria

This article is over 8 years old.

The Brandon University cafeteria has a new name, following a contest and a campus community vote. It will now be known as “Harvest Hall.”

Congratulations to Leanne Barcellona, who submitted that suggestion the “Name the Caf” contest that began last fall. It was one of two finalists that were voted on over the past couple of week.s

“We can’t eat without a harvest!” she said. “I chose this because of the local agriculture in our area and when people think of harvest they typically think of wheat (especially here on the prairies) and wheat is part of the BU logo. Harvest makes me think of gold (one of our school colours) and autumn (when we begin a new year at university). Harvesting is reaping what we sow, and many seeds are sown here at university in hopes that the world will reap the benefits.”

Leanne is an Office Assistant in the Faculty of Education as well as an Arts student here at BU.

Over the next few months, the BU Food Services team will work together with a committee to design the new signage for the Harvest Hall and roll out the name change.
