BRANDON, Man. – The Department of Visual and Aboriginal Art at Brandon University is partnering with the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (AGSM) to present a public talk by innovative ceramic artist Aaron Nelson.
Nelson, based out of Medicine Hat, Alta., is an interdisciplinary artist who explores the combination of digital technology with traditional ceramic practice. He also conducts research focused on integrating a rarely used translucent porcelain into complex sculpture installations.
A graduate of Emily Carr University, Nelson has exhibited extensively in Canada and abroad, and is currently the Associate Director of Medalta, the most well-known international ceramics residency program in Canada.
Nelson’s lecture will begin at 7:30 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 17 at the AGSM, located above the Western Manitoba Regional Library. Free parking will be available in the Town Centre parkade.
