Math Pack raises $2,000 for Samaritan House

This article is over 7 years old.

The numbers added up to major success for the Math Pack, a team organized by Brandon University (BU) Mathematics and Computer Science Professor Susan Roddy for the Coldest Night of the Year.

The Math Pack met its goal of raising $2,000 for the walk in support of Samaritan House, which provides shelter and meals for those in need in Brandon. Their team total was second to only the West End Walkers from the West End Sobey’s store as participants from all teams combined to raise $36,800 through the annual event.

Hoping to inspire more BU-affiliated teams in the future, the Math Pack reported an invigorating and thoroughly fun experience, with a warm bowl of chili welcoming them at the end of the walk.

Roddy was joined by teammates Jasmine Bajus, Julie Gadsdon, Kyle Moore, Same Morrissette, Kathleen Nichol, Millie Reid, Marcel Roberge, Tess Stevenson, and Margaret Yorke for the walk. Another team member, Gautam Srivastava, wasn’t able to attend the walk but was the largest individual fundraiser. Gadsdon, Moore, Morrissette and Stevenson are all members of Roddy’s third-year Modern Algebra class.
