Albyn Carias is a Salvadoran immigrant completing his studies in the Brandon University (BU) Department of Visual and Aboriginal Art. His thesis exhibition, El Gallery, will open on Thursday, March 23 at 7 p.m. at BU’s Glen P. Sutherland Gallery of Art, and will feature a performance at 7:30 p.m.
This exhibition will display artwork created by Carias, as well as communal projects that have progressed since the beginning of September 2016. The subject matter deals with immigration and the barriers that newcomers face when moving to Canada.
El Gallery will feature a variety of artwork on display, including paintings, installations, and ceramics.
The opening reception will take place from 7 – 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, and the exhibition will run from March 24 until April 1 from 3 – 7 p.m. daily, with the exception of Monday, March 27, when the Sutherland Gallery will be closed.
