BU researcher’s project featured by Canadian Institutes of Health Research
January 25, 2019
The work of a Brandon University (BU) researcher has been highlighted by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
Dr. Rachel Herron, the Canada Research Chair in Rural and Remote Mental Health at BU, is the Manitoba lead for Sharing Dance, a joint project with researchers at Trent University in Peterborough, Ont., Canada’s National Ballet School and Baycrest Health Sciences in Toronto.
The project, funded by CIHR and the Alzheimer Society of Canada, involves dance classes that are providing social benefits and stimulation for people living with dementia.
In recognition of Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, the CIHR took a closer look at the program, sharing the experiences of a Brandon couple who volunteered to participate.
