BU artist brings exhibition to Brandon’s AGSM

This article is over 4 years old.

Following a successful debut in Regina, an art exhibition by a Brandon University (BU) faculty member will be coming to Brandon this week.

Openings, by visual artist Lisa Wood, will be on display in the Main Gallery of the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (AGSM), located in the Town Centre, beginning on Thursday, May 16.

Wood, who is an Assistant Professor in BU’s Department of Visual and Aboriginal Art, based Openings on hundreds of time-lapse photographs from an exhibition opening at Regina’s Neutral Ground art gallery in 2017. The images were used to create layered paintings on Mylar, creating a unique look at relationships and behaviours in a social setting.

Bringing the project back to its point of origin, Openings was on display at Neutral Ground last fall, and now Wood is excited to share the exhibition with her home community.

The opening reception will take place on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Openings will remain on display at the AGSM until Friday, July 5.
