Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival celebrates 14 years this July

The fourth week of July marks the fourteenth season of the Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival directed by pianists Alexander Tselyakov and Daniel Tselyakov. This year’s Festival is comprised of 6 concerts: five chamber concerts and a jazz concert. Performances run from Wednesday, July 24 through Sunday, July 28 and feature a wide variety of musical styles and artists.

The Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival continues to be an important part of Canada’s cultural calendar delighting people of all ages with a powerful musical experience. This year’s ambitious schedule is sure to please and promises to inspire new lovers of classical music as well as satisfy the appetites of seasoned enthusiasts. The large scale roster of talented guest artists includes: Alexander Tselyakov, Piano; Daniel Tselyakov, Piano; Paul Shore, Host; Kerry DuWors, Violin; Katie Gannon, Violin; Michael Scholz, Viola; Simon Fryer, Cello; Crystal White, Double Bass; Nancy Hennen, Flute; Chris Byman, Clarinet; Alla Turbanova, Piano; Sabina Rzazade, Piano; Michael Cain, Jazz Piano; Eric Platz, Percussion; Diogo Peixoto, Guitar; and Steve Hamilton, Jazz Bass.

The wide variety in programming will make for an engaging program, and the exceptional musical talent guarantees an exciting and pleasurable experience for all.

CELEBRATING 14 YEARS OF CHAMBER MUSIC, the 2019 Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival will bring music to three Manitoba communities: the Lorne Watson Recital Hall, School of Music, Brandon University (Wednesday, July 24 – Friday, July 26); the Erickson Lutheran Church (Saturday, July 27 – Sunday, July 28); and the Wasagaming Community Arts, Wasagaming in Clear Lake (Saturday, July 27). OPENING NIGHT

We are thrilled to open the Festival with Mozart’s brilliant Piano Concerto No. 23 and with one of the most popular piano concertos ever written, Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 featuring Master Soloist, Alexander Tselyakov. After the concert, mingle with all Festival artists at a complimentary wine and cheese reception sponsored by Brandon University.

MASTERWORKS I

An evening of superb program selections includes one of Dmitri Shostakovich’s best-known chamber works, the Piano Quintet in G Minor, Opus 57. Artists will include virtuoso musicians Daniel Tselyakov, soloist; Kerry DuWors, violin; Kathy Gannon, violin; Michael Scholz, viola and Simon Fryer, cello.

MASTERWORKS II
The evening program will include one of Saint-Saëns most famous works, Carnival of the Animals, which was written as a musical joke for an all-ages audience and one of the monuments to the young Mendelssohn’s tremendous gifts, his Piano Sextet, Opus 110.

Each summer the Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival features some of Canada‘s most celebrated jazz musicians. This year jazz pianist Michael Cain and percussionist Eric Platz will be joined by Steve Hamilton, bass, and, from Brazil, guitarist Diogo Peixoto.

FESTIVAL GRAND FINALE

The Festival’s Grand Finale will impress with the excellent and exciting selections of Saint-Saëns, Gershwin and Tchaikovsky’s music featuring Nancy Hennen, flute; Chris Byman, clarinet; Daniel Tselyakov and Alexander Tselyakov, pianists. Sensitivity, depth, emotional intensity and technical brilliance come together in this fabulous FESTIVAL GRAND FINALE.
