It wasn’t included in the province’s Phase 3 re-opening guidelines, but another pandemic response measure is coming to an end. Brandon University President David Docherty will be playing just two more shows on his bagpipes: tonight and Canada Day.
Docherty has been piping in the driveway of his southwest Brandon home every Friday evening since early spring, to help honour frontline workers. Typically, he plays a repertoire of Scottish classics mixed with bagpipe takes on tunes like Jesus Christ, Superstar and the theme from the Flintstones.

A Brandon University (BU) project that will enable safer and more secure smart devices is being supported by a $120,000 federal grant.
The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) has awarded Dr. Gautam Srivastava of BU’s Department of Mathematics and Computer Science a five-year Discovery Grant to lead the five-year project.

A project that started when Dr. Matthew Steckler joined Brandon University’s (BU’s) School of Music three years ago came to fruition this spring as he released his latest album, Long Time Ago Rumble.
Performing with a crew of guest musicians as Matty Stecks and Musical Tramps, Steckler issued the double album, Long Time Ago Rumble, last month.

Brandon University (BU) Food Services is teaming up with the Brandon Food Council, the John Howard Society and Assiniboine Community College to provide barrier-free nutritious meals for all.
