Brandon University will continue to deliver mostly online learning through the Winter Term this year, to help keep the community as safe as possible from the Covid-19 pandemic.
This decision was made yesterday by the BU Senate, and affects courses that are offered from January through April 2021.
This continues the cautious and prudent approach that has proven successful for the current Fall Term. It provides certainty for faculty, staff and for students, and once again ensures that there will be no mid-term disruption from rising infection rates.
For the small number of courses where in-person learning is required, faculty will once again be asked to submit requests for specific exemptions. Timelines will be communicated soon.
At this time, Brandon University also continues to be in its most-cautious Phase Blue of campus re-opening. This means campus buildings remain locked and closed to most visitors. Faculty and staff continue to have access to their areas but may work from home if their work arrangements permit.
Many services continue to be delivered remotely. Study space, including computer lab access, is available for students on an appointment basis through the library. Students can also use their student ID cards for required building access, including those in residence or those attending in-person classes.
