Brandon University Spring/Summer 2021 courses to be offered primarily online

This article is over 3 years old.

Courses at Brandon University will continue to be delivered primarily online through the Spring 2021 and Summer 2021 terms.

Only a small number of courses with in-person instruction were approved by the BU Senate at their most-recent meeting. This follows the successful Spring/Summer terms last year as well as the Fall 2020 and ongoing Winter 2021 terms, which have all been delivered largely online.

“While online teaching and learning come with new challenges and require additional effort, we have all learned a lot over the past year about how to make it work while staying safe,” said BU Registrar Andrea McDaniel. “We know, too, that the shorter, more concentrated Spring and Summer courses were some of the most popular for online delivery.”

Registration for Spring and Summer 2021 opened this week and must be completed online. Up-to-date course listings and more information, including updated registration guides are available at https://www.brandonu.ca/registration/2021-spring-summer-session/.

Brandon University continues to monitor the Covid-19 situation and is actively planning for Fall 2021. Plans will follow the science of the situation, as well as the University’s guiding principles, which include being able to deliver the safest educational experience possible in the most equitable way.

“Our intention is to announce a course of action for Fall 2021 that we can commit to, without needing to backtrack or pivot midway through the term,” McDaniel said. “Given this, the opening of Fall/Winter registration will be delayed to allow us more time to gain a clearer picture of what is possible for the Fall term and provide you with accurate information. We will provide regular updates on Fall/Winter registration and course delivery in the coming weeks.”
