A pair of Brandon University (BU) students are sharing a slice of local history this summer as part of the Open Brandon project.
Jeremy Allen and Brandon Bourdeau D’Hui have put together a series of videos for Open Brandon. Traditionally held in person, Open Brandon is virtual this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, offering video tours of historical and notable sites and buildings around the city. Allen, who is the City of Brandon’s Heritage Marketing Co-ordinator this year, hosts the videos while Bourdeau D’Hui handled the filming and editing.
This year’s offerings include a strong BU emphasis with tours of Clark Hall, the Lorne Watson Recital Hall and the S.J. McKee Archives. Allen is joined for interviews by BU President Dr. David Docherty, Dr. Aaron Wilson of the School of Music, and B.U. Archivist Christy Henry. The tour stops also include Daly House Museum, the 12th Street Bed and Breakfast, a look at the historic Ukrainian neighbourhood north of the train tracks, Grand Valley Provincial Park and buffalo jump, as well as the Assiniboine River crossing that links Treaty 1 and Treaty 2 territories.
