Brandon University’s Senate has voted by an overwhelming majority to delay the start of Winter Term 2022 by one week, giving students and faculty additional time to prepare for a temporary move to online instruction.
Brandon University will be closed as normal for the holiday break, from Friday, Dec. 24, 2021 through to and including Monday, Jan. 3, 2022.

Common themes in their work, and experiences shared by their communities, helped bring Brandon University (BU) School of Music professor Melody McKiver together with filmmaker Sean Stiller for a new project.
McKiver’s latest album is the official motion picture soundtrack for Stiller’s lauded documentary Returning Home, which intertwines the stories of the Pacific wild salmon and the effects of Canada’s residential school system.

A dedicated board member and volunteer who has devoted countless hours of service to Brandon University will receive the prestigious Apex Award from the Brandon University Foundation.
Jeff Cristall, who says his earliest memories of BU were lending a hand as a kid from the sidelines for the then-College Caps football squad in the 1960s, most recently served three consecutive terms on the BU Foundation board, including as President of the BU Foundation from 2015–17.
The BU Foundation is responsible for fundraising on behalf of Brandon University, and of stewarding the resulting endowments and donated funds.

Brandon University is asking the Senate to approve a week’s delay to the start of the Winter Term 2022 and will return to primarily online learning until the end of January, 2022.
“Once again, we are faced with a fast-moving situation that calls upon us to make swift decisions to keep our campus as safe as possible,” said BU President David Docherty in an email to campus today.

The annual Brandon University Holiday Luncheon was held this week — in virtual fashion, to keep it as safe as possible. Thanks to the hard work and talent of the Food Services crew, as well as to some web magic from Web and IT folks, members of the BU community were able to pre-order their choice of holiday luncheon meal, pick it up during specific time slots, and enjoy in small groups with the colleagues and friends.
