BRANDON – In partnership with Brandon University (BU) researchers, the Brandon Friendship Centre (BFC) and Brandon Urban Aboriginal People’s Council (BUAPC) are hosting a new series of wellness workshops for Indigenous men.
The workshops will take place at the Cultural Resource Centre (A.R. McDiarmid Civic Complex, 638 Princess Avenue) every Thursday from March 7th to March 28th at 6 p.m.

No experience is required to participate in the Baycrest NBS Sharing Dance Seniors program, an exciting social opportunity that Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS), in partnership with Baycrest is providing at no cost for people living with dementia and their caregivers in the Westman Region at four locations starting September 12.
“Too often, people living with dementia struggle with isolation, particularly in rural areas,” said Dr. Rachel Herron, a Canada Research Chair at Brandon University. “Baycrest NBS Sharing Dance Seniors can provide opportunities for people living with dementia – and their caregivers – to socialize with others in the community.
With the symbolic shift of a tassel from one side of their mortarboards to the other, nearly 600 Brandon University students became Brandon University graduates, receiving their degrees at today’s Convocation ceremonies. It was Brandon University’s largest graduating class in six years.
Areas that currently don’t have access to adequate mental health care will be receiving greater attention from researchers at Brandon University (BU) following the appointment of BU professor Dr. Rachel Herron as a Canada Research Chair (CRC).
Herron has been named the Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Rural and Remote Mental Health, a five-year appointment that is accompanied by $500,000 in funding from the national CRC program.

The bursaries were created to realize the benefits of changes to the Manitoba Scholarship and Bursaries Initiative (MSBI).
BRANDON, Man. – Brandon University (BU) students, faculty and staff have a new safety tool, and they’re likely to carry it everywhere they go.
The University has launched BSAFE, an app available on Apple and Android platforms that provides members of the BU community, on campus and elsewhere, with safety aids and information that’s just a tap away. Users will be able to contact security and emergency services through the app, as well as find links to information on safety procedures, counselling supports and updates from the University.
BRANDON, Man. – New resources at Brandon University (BU) will help all faculty, staff and students address issues of discrimination and harassment in the work and learning environment, and differentiate these from interpersonal conflict.
A committee comprised of union, Brandon University Students’ Union, Student Services and Human Resources representatives worked together for well over a year on the new Discrimination and Harassment Prevention Policy and accompanying procedures.
