BRANDON, Man. – Today is an occasion to celebrate for Brandon University’s (BU) newest graduates.
A total of 536 degrees were awarded at the 2016 Spring Convocation in two ceremonies at BU’s Healthy Living Centre.

BRANDON, Man. – Gerald Butler and Shawn Chambers were recipients of major awards as the Brandon University Foundation recognized donors and volunteers at its Annual Luncheon on Friday, May 13 at Harvest Hall.
Butler received the Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser Award, recognizing individuals who have demonstrated exceptional skills and leadership in coordinating and motivating others for fundraising in partnership with Brandon University (BU).

A Brandon University (BU) science student has earned a significant scholarship due to her project on the use of Geographic Information Systems in wildlife management.
Brandice Hollier, a Geography major, received an Esri Canada GIS Scholarship in the form of a $900 cash award as well as $6,000 worth of software, textbooks and online training, and free registration for one of the company’s user conferences.

BRANDON, Man. – Brandon University’s (BU) outstanding students and the generous donors that help them reach their goals were celebrated on Wednesday night at the annual BU Awards Reception.

Both recipients of the second-annual IANE bursaries were once again Brandon University students this year.
The bursaries, which first awarded a year ago, are presented annually to post-secondary students of Aboriginal descent in Westman, by the Westman chapter of the Inter-provincial Association of Native Employment.

A $10,000 donation gives the Len Evans scholarship at Brandon University (BU) a significant kickstart.
As part of a provincial post-secondary funding announcement yesterday afternoon, the Government of Manitoba announced a $10,000 pledge to a scholarship fund set up in Len Evans’ name at BU.
Evans, a 30-year MLA for Brandon East, who was also a former faculty member in the Department of Economics and a member of the University’s Board of Governors, passed away last Saturday at the age of 86.
“Len Evans was an important member of the BU community,” said BU President Gervan Fearon.

Evans, who served Manitoba and the Brandon East constituency for 30 years as a Member of the Legislative Assembly, passed away on Saturday at the age of 86.
“Len was a great contributor to Brandon University and the community,” said BU Board of Governors Chair Derrick Stewart.

BRANDON, MB – Brandon’s Sikh community has established a new scholarship at Brandon University (BU) in honour of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism. The Guru Nanak Dev Scholarship will award approximately $1,400 each academic year to a continuing BU student on the basis of academic merit and a record of significant community service to a volunteer organization.
