Our commitment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Open Horizons is grounded in shared values of openness, accessibility, and community care. All attendees, presenters, organizers, exhibitors, sponsors, and volunteers are expected to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Treat one another with dignity and respect<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contribute to a supportive learning environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engage in ways that foster inclusion, curiosity, and collaboration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow both the letter and the spirit of this Code of Conduct<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Harassment, discrimination, disruptive behavior, or actions that undermine the safety or comfort of others will not be tolerated in any form, either onsite or online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-custom-varsity-blue-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-custom-varsity-blue-background-color has-background\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">2. Accessibility, facilities &amp; personal space<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In-person<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We strive to ensure that all participants can engage fully and comfortably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Accessible facilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Accessible washrooms<\/strong> are located near MPR2, close to the main building entrance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>One gender-neutral washroom<\/strong> is available on the main floor, and two additional gender-neutral washrooms are available on Level 200.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Elevator access<\/strong> is available to Levels 200 and 400.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Private spaces<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you require a quiet or private space for personal, medical, or sensory needs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\"><strong>A single-occupancy shower room with a bench<\/strong> (lockable from the inside) is available on Level 200.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>A small meeting room with roller blinds<\/strong> is available on Level 400 upon request.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please speak with event staff if you require assistance accessing these spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-custom-varsity-blue-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-custom-varsity-blue-background-color has-background\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">3. Food &amp; refreshment etiquette<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In-person<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To help us accommodate dietary needs safely and fairly:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Respect dietary labels<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do not take food labeled for a dietary group (e.g., gluten-free, nut-free, vegan) unless it applies to you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid swapping or taking extra packaged meals without checking with event staff.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prevent cross-contamination<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use designated utensils for each item.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid mixing items between buffet stations or containers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>General courtesy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dispose of all waste and compost into the appropriate containers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can bring personal snacks or meals, but please:<br>o Avoid common allergens where possible (e.g., nuts).<br>o Limit strong-smelling foods.<br>o Clean up thoroughly.<br>o Refrain from eating during sessions unless otherwise specified.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-custom-varsity-blue-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-custom-varsity-blue-background-color has-background\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">4. Tech etiquette<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In-perso<\/strong>n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Silence phones and electronic devices during sessions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not record or photograph presenters or attendees without permission.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid distractions such as loud typing or playing audio\/video in shared spaces.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Online<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Keep microphones muted unless you are invited to speak.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the chat respectfully and purposefully.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not record sessions or take screenshots unless the presenter grants permission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-custom-varsity-blue-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-custom-varsity-blue-background-color has-background\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">5. Asking questions during sessions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure sessions run smoothly and equitably:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>General guidelines<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hold all questions until the designated Q&amp;A period.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Begin by stating your first name and institution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep questions concise and relevant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One question per person to allow equitable participation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personal attacks, off-topic commentary, or disruptive conduct will not be permitted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In-person<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Raise your hand during Q&amp;A.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wait for a microphone if one is provided for accessibility and audio clarity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Online<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Submit questions through the chat or Q&amp;A box.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Moderators will relay selected questions to the presenter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-custom-varsity-blue-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-custom-varsity-blue-background-color has-background\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">6. Online conduct standards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants joining virtually are expected to uphold the same standards of respect and professionalism as in-person attendees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use your real first name for clarity and community building.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engage thoughtfully and respectfully in chat discussions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid spamming, derailing conversations, or posting inappropriate content.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow moderator instructions if chat becomes unproductive or disruptive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-custom-varsity-blue-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-custom-varsity-blue-background-color has-background\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">7. Unacceptable behaviour<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The following behaviours are prohibited at the symposium, whether online or in-person:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Harassment, bullying, intimidation, or discriminatory behavior<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Derogatory comments or slurs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Targeted or repeated disruption of sessions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sharing harmful, inappropriate, or explicit content<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recording or distributing session content without consent<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Violating accessibility or safety guidelines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-custom-varsity-blue-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-custom-varsity-blue-background-color has-background\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">8. Reporting concerns<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Speak with an event organizer or Campus Manitoba staff member onsite<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the designated online reporting channel (available on the event platform)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Email the organizing team at <a href=\"&#x6d;&#x61;&#x69;&#x6c;&#116;&#111;&#58;&#104;ell&#x6f;&#x40;&#x63;&#x61;&#x6d;&#112;&#117;&#115;man&#x69;&#x74;&#x6f;&#x62;&#x61;&#46;&#99;&#97;\"><strong>&#x68;&#x65;&#x6c;&#x6c;&#x6f;&#x40;&#x63;&#x61;&#x6d;&#x70;&#x75;&#x73;&#x6d;&#x61;&#x6e;&#x69;&#x74;&#x6f;&#x62;&#x61;&#x2e;&#x63;&#x61;<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All concerns will be taken seriously and addressed promptly and confidentially.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-custom-varsity-blue-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-custom-varsity-blue-background-color has-background\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">9. Consequences of violations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on severity, responses may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Verbal reminder or warning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Removal from a session<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Revocation of event access (in-person or online)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Notification to institutional partners<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other actions deemed appropriate by Campus Manitoba<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Our priority is maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-custom-varsity-blue-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-custom-varsity-blue-background-color has-background\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">10.
