Our commitment<br \/>\n<br \/>\nOpen Horizons is grounded in shared values of openness, accessibility, and community care. All attendees, presenters, organizers, exhibitors, sponsors, and volunteers are expected to:<br \/>\n<br \/>\n- Treat one another with dignity and respect<br \/>\n- Contribute to a supportive learning environment<br \/>\n- Engage in ways that foster inclusion, curiosity, and collaboration<br \/>\n- Follow both the letter and the spirit of this Code of Conduct<br \/>\n<br \/>\nHarassment, discrimination, disruptive behavior, or actions that undermine the safety or comfort of others will not be tolerated in any form, either onsite or online.<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n2. Accessibility, facilities &amp; personal space<br \/>\n<br \/>\nIn-person<br \/>\n<br \/>\nWe strive to ensure that all participants can engage fully and comfortably.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nAccessible facilities<br \/>\n<br \/>\n- Accessible washrooms are located near MPR2, close to the main building entrance.<br \/>\n- One gender-neutral washroom is available on the main floor, and two additional gender-neutral washrooms are available on Level 200.<br \/>\n- Elevator access is available to Levels 200 and 400.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nPrivate spaces<br \/>\n<br \/>\nIf you require a quiet or private space for personal, medical, or sensory needs:<br \/>\n<br \/>\n- A single-occupancy shower room with a bench (lockable from the inside) is available on Level 200.<br \/>\n- A small meeting room with roller blinds is available on Level 400 upon request.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nPlease speak with event staff if you require assistance accessing these spaces.<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n3. Food &amp; refreshment etiquette<br \/>\n<br \/>\nIn-person<br \/>\n<br \/>\nTo help us accommodate dietary needs safely and fairly:<br \/>\n<br \/>\nRespect dietary labels<br \/>\n<br \/>\n- Do not take food labeled for a dietary group (e.g., gluten-free, nut-free, vegan) unless it applies to you.<br \/>\n- Avoid swapping or taking extra packaged meals without checking with event staff.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nPrevent cross-contamination<br \/>\n<br \/>\n- Use designated utensils for each item.<br \/>\n- Avoid mixing items between buffet stations or containers.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nGeneral courtesy<br \/>\n<br \/>\n- Dispose of all waste and compost into the appropriate containers.<br \/>\n- You can bring personal snacks or meals, but please:<br \/>\n<br \/>\no Avoid common allergens where possible (e.g., nuts).<br \/>\no Limit strong-smelling foods.<br \/>\no Clean up thoroughly.<br \/>\no Refrain from eating during sessions unless otherwise specified.<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n4. Tech etiquette<br \/>\n<br \/>\nIn-person<br \/>\n<br \/>\n- Silence phones and electronic devices during sessions.<br \/>\n- Do not record or photograph presenters or attendees without permission.<br \/>\n- Avoid distractions such as loud typing or playing audio\/video in shared spaces.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nOnline<br \/>\n<br \/>\n- Keep microphones muted unless you are invited to speak.<br \/>\n- Use the chat respectfully and purposefully.<br \/>\n- Do not record sessions or take screenshots unless the presenter grants permission.<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n5. Asking questions during sessions<br \/>\n<br \/>\nTo ensure sessions run smoothly and equitably:<br \/>\n<br \/>\nGeneral guidelines<br \/>\n<br \/>\n- Hold all questions until the designated Q&amp;A period.<br \/>\n- Begin by stating your first name and institution.<br \/>\n- Keep questions concise and relevant.<br \/>\n- One question per person to allow equitable participation.<br \/>\n- Personal attacks, off-topic commentary, or disruptive conduct will not be permitted.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nIn-person<br \/>\n<br \/>\n- Raise your hand during Q&amp;A.<br \/>\n- Wait for a microphone if one is provided for accessibility and audio clarity.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nOnline<br \/>\n<br \/>\nSubmit questions through the chat or Q&amp;A box.<br \/>\nModerators will relay selected questions to the presenter.<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n6. Online conduct standards<br \/>\n<br \/>\nParticipants joining virtually are expected to uphold the same standards of respect and professionalism as in-person attendees.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nPlease:<br \/>\n<br \/>\n- Use your real first name for clarity and community building.<br \/>\n- Engage thoughtfully and respectfully in chat discussions.<br \/>\n- Avoid spamming, derailing conversations, or posting inappropriate content.<br \/>\n- Follow moderator instructions if chat becomes unproductive or disruptive.<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n7. Unacceptable behaviour<br \/>\n<br \/>\nThe following behaviours are prohibited at the symposium, whether online or in-person:<br \/>\n<br \/>\n- Harassment, bullying, intimidation, or discriminatory behavior<br \/>\n- Derogatory comments or slurs<br \/>\n- Targeted or repeated disruption of sessions<br \/>\n- Sharing harmful, inappropriate, or explicit content<br \/>\n- Recording or distributing session content without consent<br \/>\n- Violating accessibility or safety guidelines<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n8. Reporting concerns<br \/>\n<br \/>\nIf you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct:<br \/>\n<br \/>\n- Speak with an event organizer or Campus Manitoba staff member onsite<br \/>\n- Use the designated online reporting channel (available on the event platform)<br \/>\n- Email the organizing team at hell&#111;&#64;&#99;&#97;&#109;&#x70;&#x75;&#x73;&#x6d;&#x61;&#x6e;&#x69;toba&#46;&#99;&#97;.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nAll concerns will be taken seriously and addressed promptly and confidentially.<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\n9.
