The Institute of Urban Studies, University of Winnipeg (IUS):

The Institute of Urban Studies is an independent research arm of the University of Winnipeg. Since 1969 the IUS has been both an academic and applied research centre committed to exploring urban issues in a broad, non-partisan manner. The Institute focuses on inner-city, Indigenous, environmental, and urban development issues, and frequently partners with government, the private sector, and community-based organizations. Since 1992, the IUS has produced The Canadian Journal of Urban Research, a multidisciplinary scholarly journal dedicated to publishing articles addressing a wide range of issues relevant to urban studies. Our mandate also includes working with local communities, undertaking public interest and contractual research, and mentoring new scholars.
