{"id":1021,"date":"2013-07-03T11:33:41","date_gmt":"2013-07-03T16:33:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mancini.brandonu.ca\/research\/?page_id=1021"},"modified":"2025-08-26T13:21:20","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T18:21:20","slug":"committees","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/research\/committees\/","title":{"rendered":"Regulatory Requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Animal Care Committee<\/h3>\n<p>The <a title=\"Animal Care Committee\" href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/research\/committees\/buacc\/\">Brandon University Animal Care Committee (BUACC)<\/a> adheres to the <em>Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC)<\/em> guidelines.\u00a0 BUACC reviews and approves all projects (demonstrational, teaching, or research) that involve animals.<\/p>\n<h3>Biosafety Committee<\/h3>\n<p>The <a title=\"Biosafety Committee\" href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/research\/committees\/bubc\/\">Brandon University Biosafety Committee (BUBC)<\/a> adheres to the <em>Canadian Biosafety Standards and Guidelines<\/em>.\u00a0 BUBC reviews and approves all projects and undertakings involving the use of biological materials.<\/p>\n<h3>Research Ethics Committee<\/h3>\n<p>The <a title=\"Research Ethics Committee\" href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/research\/committees\/burec\/\">Brandon University Research Ethics Committee (BUREC)<\/a> adheres to the <em>Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans &#8211; TCPS2 (2022)<\/em>.\u00a0 BUREC reviews and approves all research, class projects, and undergraduate and graduate theses projects that involve human participants prior to recruitment and data collection.<\/p>\n<h3>Request for Release of Research Funds Prior to Regulatory Certification<\/h3>\n<p>In cases where a researcher requires <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/research\/committees\/release-of-funds\/\">access to funding in advance of the activities requiring regulatory certification<\/a>, a portion of the funding may be released following approval from the Office of Research Services.<\/p>\n<h3>Research Security: Safeguarding Your Research<\/h3>\n<p><span>The Government of Canada created <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandonu.ca\/research\/committees\/research-security\/\">Research Security<\/a> policies, guidelines, and training to assist researchers in safeguarding their research and determining if federal security requirements apply to their research.\u00a0 Research grant applications submitted to the Tri-Agency and the Canada Foundation for Innovation involving research that advances a <em>Sensitive Technology Research Area<\/em><\/span><span> will not be funded if any of the researchers<\/span><span> involved in the grant activities<\/span><span> are affiliated<\/span><span> with, or <\/span>in receipt of funding or in-kind support from, a university, research institute, or laboratory connected to military, national defense, or state security\u00a0entities<span> that could pose a risk to Canada\u2019s national security.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Animal Care Committee The Brandon University Animal Care Committee (BUACC) adheres to the Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) guidelines.\u00a0 BUACC reviews and approves all projects (demonstrational, teaching, or research) that involve animals.
