Allan"},"content":{"rendered":"<aside class='post-1572 float'><p>Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Men and Masculinities<\/p>\n<p>Term:\u00a0 May 2014 - April 2025<\/p>\n<p>Email:\u00a0 <a href=\"&#109;&#x61;&#105;&#x6c;&#116;&#x6f;:&#x61;l&#108;&#x61;&#110;&#x6a;&#64;&#x62;r&#x61;n&#100;&#x6f;&#110;&#x75;&#46;&#x63;&#97;\">&#x61;&#x6c;&#x6c;&#x61;&#x6e;&#x6a;&#x40;&#x62;&#114;&#97;&#110;&#100;&#111;&#110;&#117;&#46;ca<\/a><\/p>\n<\/aside><h2>Research Involves<\/h2>\n<p><span>Studying representations of men\u2019s sexual and reproductive health, especially men\u2019s experiences of infertility.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Research Relevance<\/h2>\n<p><span>This research involves the study of infertility and masculinity, and will seek to understand men\u2019s roles in the procreative realm.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Masculinity Trouble<\/h2>\n<p><span>During the course of his Canada Research Chair, Dr. Allan is working broadly at the intersection of critical studies of men and masculinities and health research.\u00a0 His current research, <em>Men, Masculinity, and the Procreative Realm<\/em>, seeks to study men\u2019s experiences of infertility.\u00a0 It is widely recognized that one in six couples face infertility, and in a third of cases, perhaps even more, male infertility is the cause for infertility. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Men\u2019s infertility has become a growing concern especially in light of repeated news reports in local and international newspapers through to scientific studies in peer reviewed journals about the declining quality and quantity of sperm in the average ejaculate.\u00a0 Dr. Allan\u2019s research will study men\u2019s experiences of the procreative realm by focusing on two interrelated and interconnected fields of analysis:\u00a0 the threat of infertility and the experience of infertility.\u00a0 He intends to study men\u2019s experiences of fertility clinics, infertility diagnosis, as well as representations of men\u2019s infertility.\u00a0 His interdisciplinary research will bring together the biomedical sciences, sociology and anthropology, and cultural and gender studies.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Additionally, Dr. Allan will consider men, masculinities, and mental health and wellness as part of ongoing collaborative research. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In his role as Canada Research Chair, Dr. Allan will explore and publish on a range of topics, including infertility, men\u2019s reproductive and sexual health, men\u2019s mental health and wellness, and critical studies of men and masculinities. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Men and Masculinities Term:\u00a0 May 2014 &#8211; April 2025 Email:\u00a0 &#x61;l&#x6c;a&#x6e;&#106;&#x40;&#98;r&#x61;n&#x64;&#111;&#x6e;&#117;&#x2e;&#99;a Research Involves Studying representations of men\u2019s sexual and reproductive health, especially men\u2019s experiences of infertility.
