Residence Room Deposit: COVID-19

As Brandon University Residence prepares for the upcoming 2020-2021 Fall and Winter terms, we understand there are concerns regarding the $350.00 room deposit if Brandon University does not provide in-person classes for the Fall term. We want to ensure that we will provide fair options for students and commit to making any necessary accommodations on a case by case basis.

If social distancing measures prevent Brandon University Residence from providing student housing for the Fall Term, those who have applied for residence will have the following options:

  1. Use the $350.00 deposit to pay for the Winter Term (January to April)
    -Students can put the $350.00 deposit towards costs for the Winter Term if they choose to live in residence during the Winter Term.
  2. Receive a refund of the $350.00 deposit
    -If moving to residence during the Winter term does not suit the needs the student, they can receive a full refund of the $350.00 deposit. The $60.00 application fee will remain non-refundable.

We have extended our room deposit refund deadline from May 1st to June 1st to allow students more time to consider their options during this time. This means that any student who has paid their room deposit can receive a refund of that deposit if they cancel their application by no later than June 1st.

Prospective students who have applied for residence will still receive deadlines to pay for their room deposit. We highly encourage students to pay for their room deposit on time to secure their spot in residence.
