A hazard is an event or physical condition that has the potential to cause injuries, property damage or damage to the environment.
Some common hazards are; spills or wet floors, loose or frayed carpets and rugs, cords across a hallway, and icy sidewalks. These hazards could cause slips, trips and falls. Loud noises, frayed electrical cords and bottles that are unmarked/unidentified all have the potential to cause an injury.
We want to identify these hazards so they can be mitigated before they become an incident and cause injury, property damage or damage to the environment.
Remember to also report the hazard to your supervisor.
