Abstract
We give a brief introduction to quantum information theory; our main objects of interest are quantum states and quantum channels. We then focus on private quantum channels, a basic tool in quantum cryptography. We consider the subtle differences between several definitions of “private quantum channel”, and provide a simple example that highlights these main differences. We also discuss connections with quantum error correction.
