In June of 2018, I will be graduating from the Faculty of Education with a Bachelor of Education After Degree.

What accomplishments (awards, scholarships, volunteer work, organizations, memberships) are you proud of?

I am very excited to be finishing my BEdAD this year after putting in many years of hard work at school, volunteering, working at summer camps, and teaching dance and EAL classes. I was on the Dean’s Honour List and I was inducted into the President’s Honour Society in my first year in the faculty of education. I look forward to finishing this year strong again.

I had the opportunity to work with my parents and my older brother at A&L, our family business, for a number of years through university. It was a great learning experience for me to work with sales, administration, and marketing alongside the experts (my parents), and to contribute to our family business.

Another accomplishment I am proud of is completing a summer as Head Instructor at Mini University. I had the honour of working with an incredibly talented staff who inspired me so much with their work ethic, fun ideas, and relationships with our campers.

Tell us about yourself/ your background/ your history.

I grew up in Brandon and come from a family consisting of my parents, my brother, my sister and I. I completed high school at Vincent Massey, and graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in 2016 with a major in history, and a minor in math. I loved studying history because it relates so much to our own lives now, and I have always felt that we can learn from studying the past. Another of my favourite subjects at university was languages, as I enjoyed studying both Spanish and French. Some of my favourite things to do are snowboarding, hiking, reading, and watching movies, as long as I’m spending time with family and friends!

How did you become interested in your field of study?

I have always known I wanted to be a teacher. As a kid, I used to make my little sister pretend to be my student so that I could play school! I created a little desk, gave out assignments, and marked her work. She ended up learning how to cursive write before kindergarten, and I give myself credit for that. Ever since then, following this career path seemed natural. I enjoyed volunteering as a youth leader for many years, as well as teaching dance classes, tutoring, taking missions trips to work with children, and working at summer camps.

What is your philosophy in life?

My philosophy in life is to be a kind, caring, respectful person, and to follow Christ. It is important to me to be an example to my students and to others of patience, kindness, and forgiveness. I hope to instill in them the virtues that will make our world a better place.

Where do you see yourself in the future?

Wherever I end up, I will absolutely be teaching! I would also love to have the opportunity to travel and see more of the world, and help others along the way.

What education have you taken?
