Contract: 0.9 FTE Limited Term Teacher - General (leave replacement)

Location: Boissevain School

Effective Date(s): March 1st until June 30th, 2026 or by mutual agreement; September 1st, 2026 until June 30th, 2027

Assignments: Music (Grade K - 5), Middle Years Band (Grade 6 - 8), Concert Band (Grade 9 - 12), General Music (Grade 9 - 12)

Salary: As per the Provincial Teachers’ Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Position Description:

Boissevain School is a Kindergarten to Grade 12 school located in Boissevain, MB, with an enrollment of around 400 students. The school has well-established music and band programs that both school and community members highly value. We are seeking a qualified music/band teacher who will actively engage students in high-quality music education.

This position involves teaching music skills to elementary students, fostering an understanding of, and appreciation for, musical elements and exploration. The successful candidate will enable learners to participate in learning conversations, inquire, analyze, interpret, reflect, evaluate, and share meaning through multiple perspectives.
The successful candidate will plan and implement a concert band program for both middle years and high school students, ensuring that class time is efficiently organized to allow for preparation, rehearsal, and instruction within the allotted time. The successful candidate will teach instrumental techniques, reading skills, active listening, and historical context, while nurturing students’ musicianship, expression, and creativity.

Additionally, the position includes individual and small group instruction in high school music class(es), teaching skills in acoustic/electric guitar, bass guitar, drum kit, ukulele, piano, and more, while encouraging collaboration in small ensembles and exploration of diverse musical styles.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate or the ability to obtain a Manitoba Teaching Certificate.
• Bachelor's degree specializing in music or music education.
• Demonstrated experience successfully teaching music/band programs.

• Ability to play a variety of musical instruments.
• Excellent organizational and classroom management skills.
• Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with colleagues, parents, and the community.
• Demonstrated respect for a diversity of learners and commitment to supporting inclusive practices.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
