Role Description: The Planning and Development Assistant supports development review and land use planning within the park. Key tasks include:
- Responding to requests for information from the public, permit applicants, contractors, and leaseholders
- Reviewing development and building permit applications for completeness and compliance with applicable regulations and policy
- Undertaking research and stakeholder engagement, then compiling information to support community planning and the preparation of operational policies
- Providing administrative support to Parks Canada Development Officers and Planners
Education:
- Currently enrolled in an academic program of geography, planning, architecture, construction code, or related program or a recent graduate in the last 4 months.
Experience:
- Experience interacting with members of the public and stakeholders in a professional manner
- Experience conducting research and analysis and presenting findings in an academic or
professional setting - Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to use databases and Microsoft 365 Office Suite
Intent of Process: This process will be used to staff a full-time (37.5 hr/wk) student or term position. The position will be based out of Riding Mountain National Park (Wasagaming, MB) from May to September, with the possibility of extension.
Hourly Rates of Pay: $17.75 – $31.69 - Salary to be determined at the time of appointment based on Treasury Board Student Rates of Pay.
