The Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) is the official democratic and self-governing representative for the Metis Nation’s Manitoba Metis Community. The Manitoba Metis are Canada’s Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill one full time Research Associate position within our Housing Department located at 150 Henry Ave in Winnipeg, MB. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Research Associate will be required to administer the conduct of research and analysis on a range of hard-to-house and unsheltered issues regarding the Metis population.

Job Duties/Competencies:

  • Conduct literature reviews in support of developing urban and rural unsheltered projects;
  • Assist with research and analysis of a broad range of unsheltered patterns & issues in order to assist in identifying their implications as they relate to the adaptation of programs and services;
  • In collaboration with Program Manager and MMF regions, draft discussion group questions and collect quantitative and qualitative data on the activities;
  • Prepare quantitative data for analysis;
  • Develop a data storage spreadsheet and method for efficient data retrieval;
  • Collect, compile and present comprehensive reports for research conducted and suggested policy;
  • Participate in the design, development, analysis and evaluation of various components of hard to reach and unsheltered issues, including the identification of trends, issues and the development of options for action and recommend appropriate courses of action.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Social Science, Social Services, or relevant field, and/or equivalent experience and training may be considered;
  • Two years’ experience with quantitative/qualitative and community-based research methods;
  • Extensive experience working with at-risk/vulnerable population;
  • Experience in report writing and proposal development;
  • Experience conducting research and developing presentations;
  • Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Metis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset;
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
