Beautiful Plains Museum located in Neepawa, Manitoba seeks a student for the position of summer curator.
Position starts on May 4, 2026, and ends September long weekend.
This position is funded by Young Canada Works at $17.00 an hour, You must have been a full-time student in the Spring 2026 semester and be intending to return to school full time in Fall 2026.
Requirements include:
Well versed in social media platforms, ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and timelines and a knowledge of local and/or regional history considered an asset, enjoy working with people, have an interest in history, able to work with a variety of people on a board, have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), be able to work independently and in a team setting.
Duties include: working with board members on display rotation, meeting the visiting public, giving tours and providing information about the museum and town; preparing reports and news releases on museum happenings, some yard maintenance and regular cleaning of building.
Beautiful Plains Museum is located in a Heritage railroad station built by the Canadian Northern Railway in 1902. It houses a collection of artifacts (on three levels) that represent the living and working conditions of our "new immigrant" ancestors as they made their new homes here.
Neepawa has a population of around 6,000 people and is surrounded by a farming community. The summer months are especially busy with visitors from across Canada and around the globe. For further information on Neepawa go to www.neepawa.ca.
