Technician Assistants

**Must meet requirements specified under Hometown Green Team and Canada Summer Jobs.**

The Souris River Watershed District located in Deloraine and Reston, MB is hiring one summer technician for each office to assist their Resource Technician.

Other Duties:

• Maintenance of interpretive areas & community orchards, such as lawn mowing, painting, trimming etc.
• Assist technician with surveying, mapping and planning (GIS Experience Asset)
• Complete an inventory of culverts using Leica/Spectra GPS surveying equipment
• Mechanical and manual tree planting
• Developing educational programs for schools and community groups
• Surface Water Sampling
• Assist technician with delivery of soil and water programs
• Data collection (GPS) and data entry (GIS)
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Enrolled in a Diploma or Degree Program in Land and Water Management/GIS field or an equivalent education and/or experience
• Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license
• Experience with lawn care equipment, quad etc.
• Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to work independently or as a member of a team
• Mechanically inclined and ability to work with farm related equipment is an asset
• Experience with surveying equipment is an asset
