Wage or Salary: $21.63/hr

Number of Hours to Work: 35 hrs per week

Key Duties:

Assist Professor Gregory Kennedy with ongoing research related to francophone veterans of Canada’s First World War. Support new research into local (Brandon-area) soldiers.
1. Transcribe military personnel files
2. Link soldier data to census and local archival sources
3. Read historiography and write research reports
4. Build a database for analyzing demographic and socioeconomic trends as well as military experience
5. Contribute to the development of a conference paper, blog post, and research talk about this project
6. Other relevant duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience:

Skillset:
1. Attention to detail, accurate data entry
2. Critical thinking and analysis
3. Writing (for research reports, blog posts, papers
4. Ability to work as part of a team (two international undergraduate students will also be employed)

Education:
1. Current undergraduate student in History or a related social science field.
2. Reading knowledge of French would be an asset.

Experience:
1. Mix of in-person and virtual, expect weekly team meetings, training, collaborative work, and regular updates

Start date June 8th. Contract is for 8 weeks at 35 hours / week – some flexibility possible.
