Description:

Kemany Apiaries Ltd. is seeking an Apiary Worker for full-time seasonal employment in a dynamic agricultural environment. This position will assist with the handling and care of hives, queen rearing, and livestock production as well as the harvest and extraction of honey from April-September, 2021. An earlier start date may be negotiated based on the availability of the successful candidate.

Job Duties:

• Handling, feeding, and caring for honey bee colonies,
• Assisting with the identification, management and treatment of hive health issues;
• Participate in queen rearing program
• Physically demanding work moving hives, honey collection, and bee yard maintenance;
• Operate equipment for automated honey extraction;
• Overtime, evenings, and the occasion weekend may be required;
• Other apiary duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong attention to detail;
• Flexibility;
• Capacity to follow verbal instruction;
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team;
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle;
• Ability to lift 50lbs and perform repetitive tasks;
• Ability to stand, bend, and crouch for extended periods;
• Comfortable working in close proximity to bees.
