The Faculty of Education invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in the Department of Educational Studies in the area of Early Childhood Education at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointment, subject to budgetary approval, will commence August 1, 2020.

The successful candidate will have a doctorate with a focus on early childhood education. Preferred candidates will have experiences in ECE curriculum development with a focus on multiliteracies across the ECE curriculum; experiences with teaching undergraduate and graduate students (face-to-face and online teaching modes) in the Canadian context; and evidence of strong connections with the local, national, and international ECE community at the scholarly, governmental, and practice levels.

The following qualifications will be considered assets:

  • demonstrated commitment to ensuring decolonizing, reconciliation, anti-racist, social and ecological justice issues within ECE through course design, research endeavours, and/or teaching approaches;
  • evidence of potential to contribute to academic knowledge and research mobilization within the field of Early Childhood Education;
  • extensive knowledge of research, theories, practices, and national and international policies underpinning early childhood education;
  • a commitment to advancing the field of ECE through the promotion of innovative research, theories, and practices. The majority of teaching will be at the undergraduate level with possible teaching in the MEd programs.
